Every reader is different, but once a reader sees himself or herself in a poem or book, he or she can begin to discover the wonder of words and the power of poetry—and perhaps dream of becoming a poet someday: “O, to poet like a laser, / Pierce darkness with one word.” Featured Poetry Books. This is not the best book of poetry I have read by Margaret Atwood. However, it is the source of one of the greatest short poems of all time: "you fit into me like a hook into an eye a fish hook an open eye" (1). But that is the first poem and it takes awhile for the poems to return to the basic power of it/5(88). Off to the books. Soon I'll be weeping on them. Wetting the very pages I hungrily eat through in October. I'll miss how the sun felt on my skin. Or the way my days weren't written out like a play. I'll miss the summer heat I so awfully dread this time in August. When I'm pale and shiverung in February It's funny how it all works. I can't just.

Poets, in order to best express their art, often create entirely new ways to display poetry on a book page. And there are many poetic forms themselves that include in their structure formatting requirements, like Shakespeare’s sonnets with their ending 2-line couplets.   The poetry collections below give us a window into the quiet, solitary moments of some of the modern era’s leading feminist voices. By turns fearless, intimate, wry, and laugh-out-loud funny, these collections will strengthen your soul and inspire you to celebrate your own experience.
